The Knotty Ones
Delčia Sweater | Navy
"Delčia" means "half-moon" in Lithuanian and her half-and-half stitching was inspired by Baltic pagan roots and the changing cycles of the moon. In pagan culture, people are big believers in the moon's energy and staying in touch with it. Delčia finds that perfect balance between the two extremes of the young moon and the full moon. This is a hand knitted sweater with a unique patterned texture. Comes in one size with a relaxed, easy fit.
About The Knotty Ones: At The Knotty Ones, we believe in a close-knit sisterhood. We employ female artisans in rural Lithuania to produce all of our knits, giving them a living wage, financial independence and a voice in their households and communities. We also take sustainability pretty seriously. Our female-founded partner factories as well as individually hired artisans use 100% biodegradable yarns, which are not only great for your wardrobe, but also for the plant. The Knotty Ones was founded by three best friends — Sandra, Danute and Akvile — who believed that it’s nice to be cool, but it’s cooler to be nice. The three, like many of us, spent their early twenties chasing latest fashion trends and fads. This quickly started to change back in 2014 as they took time off to travel around South East Asia where they learned about the dark side of the fast fashion industry. Back in Europe — after not being able to find a knit that was sustainable, had a contemporary feel and empowered people making it — they set out to create one themselves. Today, based between Brooklyn, New York, and Vilnius, Lithuania, the three young women are in pursuit of changing the industry one knit at a time.
